In 2015 the San Diego Chargers were one of the worst teams in the league. They finished the season with a 4-12 record. Can they make an improvement in 2016? That will be seen as the year progresses. Here are 5 guys to keep your eyes on during the 2016 season.

Melvin Gordon. Gordon was last years first round pick. He never really got off the ground in 2015. He battled injuries and his performance was well below par. If the Chargers are to keep Philip Rivers from having to throw 50 times a game they need Gordon to run the football. An improved offensive line should help with this as well. Watch RB Melvin Gordon for the 2016 San Diego Chargers.

Philip Rivers. You have to put Rivers on any watch list for the Chargers. He is the heart and soul of the team. He is probably going to go down in history as one of the best QBs to never play in a super bowl. If Rivers can stay healthy and the run game can come around the Chargers should be improved. Keep your eyes on Rivers as he tries to lead the Chargers back up the ladder.

Mike McCoy. McCoy has to be on the hot seat. He is 22-26 over his 4 year tender as head coach. I know during that span that the Chargers have been one of the most injured teams in football. Maybe McCoy needs to take a new approach. Keep your veterans healthy. Days off are not a bad thing during the season. If the Chargers are to make a move McCoy is a key. Keep your eyes on this coach.

Joey Bosa. I put Bosa on this list to see if he signs. If he signs with the Chargers their defense should be much improved. Especially from a pass rushing stand point. If Bosa does not sign we need to watch and see how the Chargers handle the situation. Do they allow him to re-enter the 2017 draft? This is a fluid situation. Watch this all year-long.

Keenan Allen. Allen is coming back from a serious knee injury. If he is able to return to his top form in 2016 his should help the above mentioned Philip Rivers and the Chargers offense. Keenan Allen was quickly becoming one of the best receivers in the NFL. Rivers almost relies on Allen in a way in which Matt Stafford relied on Calvin Johnson in Detroit. Keep your eye on the health of WR Keenan Allen during the 2016 season.

The San Diego Chargers are a question mark in the AFC. If things fall right they may be able to make a surprise splash. They are going to need a lot to go in their favor for the splash to happen. Keep your eyes on the above personnel to see how it responds in 2016.
