Wimbledon has come and gone. Andy Murray is now a two-time champion, and has given his home crowd some excitement going into next years tournament. However, lost in the shadow was the preformance of Milos Raonic, who finally ascended into the big time of men’s tennis.

The men’s game is headlined by Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Stan Wawrinka. Those are the only three men that have won majors in the last two years. Djokovic has won five of the seven tournaments. This signals that it’s not easy for another man to win.

Although, Djokovic isn’t getting any younger, and as some of these other stars reach their peak, Raonic is just in the prime of his career, making him a favorite in the men’s game for the next four to five years.

At 25 years of age, Raonic is about to enter his glory years of tennis. He’s coming off his first major final appearance, and is currently ranked 7th in the world. Without question he will rise up the ranks after his preformance in Wimbledon.

Perhaps the biggest reason for Raonic’s success is his newfound partnership with John McEnroe. The two teamed up in May, and it seems to have had an effect on Raonic. He’s reached the final at Queens and Wimbledon over that time, meaning McEnroe must be doing something right.

Raonic is also a big draw for his home country of Canada. While born overseas, he moved to Canada at the age of three, and has become a full-time resident. Himself and women’s tennis star, Eugenie Bouchard, have become the poster children for tennis in Canada.

Milos Raonic is an up and comer in the men’s game. He might never be as great as Djokovic or Roger Federer, but it’s not out of the question to think he can win and few majors before he leaves the game.
