The Washington Redskins have been a mess over the last couple of weeks. They don’t know what they want to do with their franchise QB. They released their GM in the midst of the biggest time of the offseason. Where does this franchise go from here? Who do they look for in a GM? The answer just may be in-house, Doug Williams.
What makes Doug Williams qualified to be a GM? Let us take a look at his qualifications.

As you can see Doug Williams has had plenty of opportunity to scout talent. Most of all he is already in-house. Just promote from within. Sometimes those are the best practices.
How has he scouted talent? Well, as a college scout with Jags, GM with the Destroyers, Head Coach at the college ranks, and Scouting Coordinator with the Bucs. All these positions have to have an eye on talent.
Doug Williams is also well liked. He is liked not only in the ranks of the Redskins but in league ranks as well. He has worked alongside some of the best GMs in the league. Most noteworthy Mark Dominik, while in Tampa Bay and Scot McCloughan while in Washington. He has been an assessor of talent all along the way. It may now be the time for a team to rely on his evaluations and input.
The Washington Redskins would be foolish not to at least offer Doug Williams an interview. That is if they are going to keep the current organizational structure. I believe Williams is going to make a solid GM in this league. There has to be the right time and place for that to happen. Seems like there is no better time than now.
