When it comes to the Washington Redskins, nothing surprises me. A report surfaced over the weekend that one Jay Gruden met with Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman on Saturday. Sherman was in town for a charity event held by former teammate Michael Robinson. Sherman was once on the trade block. Is he still is the question? Should the Redskins pull the trigger on a trade?
Richard Sherman is one of the best CBs in the league. He is easily in the top five. Additionally, Sherman shuts downs his side of the field. Although he does not “travel” with receivers Sherman shuts down his side of the field. Often times, defensive coordinators will deliberately stay away from his side of the field. He makes it difficult to game plan.
The asking price to get Sherman from the Seahawks has to include a first round selection. There is a belief around the league that it may take a deal similar to Darrelle Revis going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In fact, in that deal, the Bucs sent a first and a fourth to the New York Jets for the cornerback.
Placing Richard Sherman in burgundy and gold, opposite CB Josh Norman, would give the Washington Redskins one of the best secondaries in the NFL. It would allow both CBs to patrol their own side and not have to “travel” with the opposition’s best. Norman did this a lot last season.
The question remains, can the Washington Redskins afford to give up a number one pick? After all, they are in a QB quandary with the franchise-tagged Kirk Cousins. If they are able to sign him to a long-term contract, then the trading of next year’s first-round selection is a viable defensive solution. However, not signing Cousins could mean the Redskins need to use that first-round pick on one of next year’s QBs.
The acquisition of Richard Sherman would immediately improve the Washington Redskins defense. One that was historically bad on third downs in 2016. If President Bruce Allen makes this deal, it would be one of the riskiest moves in his tenure. On the other hand, it could be one of the most rewarding.

How can one be offensive and not the other? Racism is something that apply to all
people, not just black people. You cannot say the N-word on the radio, tv, or even
in the newspapers or internet. Yet, the FCC allow the offensive word against Native
Americans to be broadcast freely all over the media. Can you tell me why this is so,
we as Americans, must fight against all forms of Racism in this country.
