The Washington Redskins are a team that could go either direction in 2017. It will be up to their defense to which direction they go. However, there is some youth and talent on both sides of the ball to keep your eye on. In this article, we will give you the big three to focus on during training camp.

Josh Doctson – WR

Doctson spent a majority of the 2016 season on injured reserve with an Achilles injury. All indications are that he has recovered 100%. He is performing well in OTAs and mini-camp. The Washington Redskins are expecting Doctson to fill a large role in their offense of 2017. If he shows the stuff that, he showed in college, making him the 22nd overall pick in 2016.

The emergence of Doctson will be critical to the Redskins offensive successes in 2017. He will have to show that fans that letting go of receivers such as DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon were a good thing. Keep your eye on the kid during 2017, I think he is about to do good things.

Samaje Perine – RB

The Washington Redskins drafted Perine in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Right now, he is sitting third on the depth chart behind Rob Kelley and Chris Thompson. However, do not be surprised if the man is starting at some point this season. Moreover, not due to injury either. He is an all-around talent.

Rob Kelley is the starter entering the preseason. As well he should be. He earned his stripes in 2016. Although, if the Redskins had 100% confidence, they would not have taken a back in the draft. The failures of Matt Jones and others made drafting a running back a big question. Nonetheless, the Redskins selected Perine and if all reports are accurate, he will make fans happy in time.

Fabian Moreau – CB

The Redskins, in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, selected Moreau. He was a first round talent on many draft boards heading into draft preparations. Unfortunately, he tore his pectoral muscle during the bench press at his pro-day. He is a long corner, 6’0” with 32” arms. He has the ability to jam receivers at the LOS throwing off the timing of the opposing offense. He breaks down and wraps up on the tackle. He is not afraid to stick his nose on the ball and make a big play.

If Fabian Moreau can heal quickly from his injury, I look for him to press Bashaud Breeland for the starting corner opposite Josh Norman. The key will be the injury time.

The Washington Redskins have youth, talent, and veteran experience. As I said in the opening, the key will be defense. If they can resemble anything half of last year this team is a playoff contender. If not, they could be looking at starting over in several areas.
