6. Wrestlemania 3- March 29, 1987: Pontiac Silverdome, Pontiac, MI

Up until Wrestlemania 32, this had the record for the indoor attendance of 93,173 at the Pontiac Silverdome. In 1987, over 90,000 people packed the building to see Hulk Hogan defend his title against Andre the Giant, who had just turned heel and wanted to win his first championship. Hogan ended up slamming Andre, dropping the leg and retained the title in what was a decent main event match. The highlight of the night was the Intercontinental Title Match between Ricky Steamboat and Randy Savage, as many have considered this to be the greatest Wrestlemania match ever. A back and forth contest between Savage and Steamboat that saw Steamboat get the win and the Intercontinental Title in a pure wrestling classic.

5. Wrestlemania 15- March 28, 1999: First Union Center, Philadelphia, PA

In the first of three Wrestlemania matches between the two, The Rock and Steve Austin did battle in the main event and gave the fans their money’s worth; Austin won his second WWF Title and defeated the Rock with Mick Foley as the special guest referee. The Undertaker continued his Wrestlemania winning streak and won his first ever Hell in a Cell match at Wrestlemania by defeating the Big Boss Man; many have a hard time getting the image of the Boss Man hanging from the cage by a rope out of their heads. Triple H turned on DeGeneration X and helped Shane McMahon defeat X-Pac for the European Championship. This was the last Wrestlemania appearance for Owen Hart, as he, along with Jeff Jarrett, retained the Tag Team Titles with a win over Test and D-Lo Brown. Hart died a few months later in the tragic accident at an event in Kansas City.

4. Wrestlemania 18- March 17, 2002: Sky Dome, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

For the first time since Wrestlemania 9, Hulk Hogan not only returned to WWE, but also returned to Wrestlemania and faced off against the Rock in what many thought was a dream match with Hogan coming back after a six-year stint in WCW. Many in Toronto cheered for Hogan, but in the end, the Rock ended up getting the win over Hogan. The main event didn’t have the kind of excitement that the match between Hogan and the Rock did, as Triple H won the WWF Championship over Chris Jericho. Steve Austin defeated Scott Hall, who like Hogan, had also returned from a lengthy stay in WCW. The Undertaker won his 10th straight Wrestlemania match by defeating Ric Flair, who was appearing in his first Wrestlemania match since 1992.

3. Wrestlemania 30- March 30, 2004: Super Dome, New Orleans, LA

This will be the night remembered as when the streak ended. The Undertaker, who was 21-0 heading into the night, saw his historic Wrestlemania streak end at the hands of Brock Lesnar, who destroyed the Undertaker and shocked the world when he beat him, sending the New Orleans crowd into a shocked frenzy. The night also belonged to Daniel Bryan, as he defeated Triple H to earn his way into the main event and into a triple threat match for the WWE Championship with Batista and Randy Orton; Bryan forced Batista to submit and won the championship. The night opened up with the special guest host, Hulk Hogan, who was joined by the Rock and Steve Austin, in a segment had the crowd at the Superdome in awe of three wrestling icons.

2. Wrestlemania 19- March 30, 2003: Safeco Field, Seattle, WA

Despite that, Lesnar finished the match and defeated Angle with the F5. Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon faced off in a match being dubbed “20 years in the making” and one in which Hogan ended up winning. Shawn Michaels defeated Chris Jericho in a classic performance.

  1. Wrestlemania 17- April 1, 2001: Astrodome, Houston TX

To this day, many still feel that this was the best Wrestlemania held to date and one with a card that was well constructed. In their second Wrestlemania battle, Steve Austin re-gained the WWF Championship over the Rock and saw Austin turn heel when he had Vince McMahon help him in the match. The end of the night saw a bloody Austin and McMahon shake hands with a stunned crowd in Houston looking on. Speaking of the WWF owner, McMahon lost to his son, Shane McMahon in a Street Fight; it was the first time in which Shane performed the “Coast to Coast” move in a wrestling match, as he kicked a garbage can into his father’s face for the win. In the first of their three Wrestlemania battles, The Undertaker defeated Triple H. In the second ever Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match, Edge and Christian re-gained the Tag Team Championship by defeating The Dudley Boys and Hardy Boys in an epic battle.
