Jalen Ramsey took to Twitter in the middle of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ playoff season to politic for a new contract for his teammate Aaron Colvin. Now the All-Pro cornerback is once again playing the role of politician in trying to get wide receiver Allen Robinson a new deal with the team.

Per cbssports.com, Ramsey is using his voice to make sure Robinson, who is set to become a free agent in March, does not become a player he sees on the other side of the ball during the 2018 season.

Robinson just completed his rookie deal and suffered a season-ending knee injury just minutes into the 2017 season. He is still regarded as the best wide receiver on the free agent market if the Jaguars do not sign him to a long-term deal or place the franchise tag on him for the upcoming season.

While he only played a couple of downs last season, Robinson still has leverage with the team.
The Jaguars don’t have as much cap space as they had last season. It is believed Marqise Lee, the team’s leading receiver this past season and a 2014 second-round draft pick like Robinson, will be allowed to walk in free agency. The team still needs to figure out what to do with Allen Hurns, who’s price tag maybe too high for the coming season given his lack of production and injuries that plagued his season.
Rookie Dede Westbrook and first-year player Keenan Cole flashed promise and potential at times, but both were missing in action at times last season.
If the Jaguars are not able to work a deal with Robinson, it could mean this unit will have a completely different look in 2018. Wide receiver should still be a position the team addresses in free agency or through the NFL Draft in April.
Given that the Miami Dolphins just placed the franchise tag on Jarvis Landry, which will pay him over $16 million this coming season, and Devante Adams signed a four-year, $58 million deal with the Green Bay Packers at the end of last season, Robinson has to figure he will get money in between those two contracts. Still, the Jaguars must figure out whether they can sign him to a long range deal without destroying their salary cap for the future.
Ramsey, linebacker Myles Jack, and pass rushers Dante Fowler, Jr. and Yannick Ngakoue are going to want big-time, long-term deals.

While Robinson appears to be the hot topic in Jacksonville, Colvin is still a player who Ramsey is angling for. Per multiple NFL sources, the cornerback will have a higher demand in free agency than some might think. Colvin was a fourth-round pick in 2014 out of Oklahoma.
From 2014-16, he totaled 201 receptions for 2,831 yards and 22 touchdowns after playing his college ball at Penn State.
