2013 NFL Free Agency: Titans Sign Former Ravens Safety Bernard Pollard

Thursday morning the Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with former Baltimore Ravens veteran strong safety Bernard Pollard to a one-year deal.

Pollard is the one of the most fearsome hitters in the  NFL. As he led the Ravens in tackles in 2012 with 98 while also recording two sacks and one interception. He plays with a physical intensity at 6’1″ and 228 pounds. In his career he has registered 584 tackles, nine sacks, nine interceptions and 13 forced fumbles so far in seven seasons.

By going to the Titans he now is on his fourth team, which is strange for someone who is a great talent.  Previous reports show the 28-year-old is a problem in the locker room and nearly staged a revolt with the Ravens prior to the Super Bowl.

Prior to joining the Ravens he was a member of the Houston Texans and started out his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s always been a starter in the league.

Did miss three games in 2012 due to six cracked ribs. During the off-season Baltimore decided that his contract wasn’t worth keeping or having around due to the headaches he has caused, so he got released. Once his released occurred he met with the Titans and contemplated the offer and on Thursday chose to accept the deal.

As a member of the Titans he will blend well and start opposite free safety Micheal Griffin. Giving the team one of the tougher safety combinations in the NFL.  Also signed was safety George Wilson giving Jerry Gray an excellent opportunity to incorporate each safety in the lineup.

This happened a day after legendary safety Ed Reed signed with the Texans. Meaning that the starting safeties in the Super Bowl Champions have departed. Making it necessary for the Ravens to look to replace the two in the draft.
