PHILADELPHIA – According to media reports, the Philadelphia Eagles have reached agreement on a five-year $42 million deal with former Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray.

A potentially dominating back when healthy, as he rushed for over 100 yards in 14 games with Dallas, Murray’s new deal includes $21 million in guaranteed money.

Murray, who led the league in rushing with 1,845 yards on 392 carries and 13 touchdowns in 16 games, defects to the hated NFC East rival Eagles, after failing to agree to a deal with the Cowboys. According to media reports, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders were also interested in the former Oklahoma Sooner back.

In Philadelphia, Murray will reunite with former Sooner teammate and roommate in newly-acquired quarterback Sam Bradford and form a suddenly stacked backfield with Ryan Matthews—pending an official agreement—and third-down back and specialist Darren Sproles.
