INSCMagazine: Get Social!

It’s always incredibly important to keep on top of your fitness, no matter your age. Although it might be a little harder to get the joints moving, that doesn’t mean you can’t do sport – there are plenty of sports and opportunities to get stuck into! Here is our favorite three.

Golf

Golf is perfect for anyone of any age – it doesn’t require an intense workout, but is still a very good way of working your body and mind. Not only will the walking between holes limber up your body, as well as give you a bit of fresh air, but you also improve a variety of other skills. Your flexibility, balance, and strength are all put to the test and the more you play, the better each of these will be.

Golf is also very good for the mind – it takes a lot of skill to be able to hit the right shot at the right time, alongside knowing which club to use and the best route to the hole. Plus, golf is one of those sports that you can really enjoy investing in – kit yourself out with a new outfit focused around giving you comfort, as well as a customized set of PXG clubs to give you a bit of style.

Dancing

Now, we’re not saying you should throw yourself straight into street dance (unless that’s your thing, of course), but dancing is a great way to get a bit of exercise and have a bit of fun, too. If shows like Dancing With The Stars are your thing, consider ballroom – if you know anything about ballroom, you’ll know it’s not always as slow-paced as you might think. Dances like the cha-cha and the jive are extremely high energy and will keep you on your toes, and even the slower dances like the waltz take a lot of thought and movement. For those looking to improve their rhythm and flexibility, dancing is perfect. It’s also perfect for those who are trying to persuade a reluctant partner to join them, to meet new people or just to have a little fun.

Swimming

If you’re looking to use every inch of muscle, look no further – swimming is great for both muscular and cardiovascular workouts without placing too much strain on you since you can take it at your own pace. Your heart works harder to keep your muscles moving against the water, giving you a stronger heart, but it also strengthens your muscles and flexibility. Water will also take up to 90% of your body weight meaning if you suffer from arthritis, swimming is the ideal sport for you since your affected joints will be cushioned and supported by the water, and you’ll be able to move less painfully. There are plenty of activities related to swimming, too – whether that’s synchronized swimming, aqua aerobics or water polo, you can up the pace a little or take it down. Whatever suits you best!

Who says the older you get, the less active you are? Not anymore! These three sports make it easy for you to keep on top of your fitness and live a happy, healthy life.
