While the San Francisco 49ers season ended in disappointing fashion with Colin Kaepernick throwing a game sealing interception. There’s an even bigger concern for the team and it has to do with the health of NaVorro Bowman who suffered a serious knee injury in the fourth quarter.

He made his presence felt throughout the game and came up big in the first half against the Seattle Seahawks as he recorded eight tackles and a sack. With his night ending prematurely he did finish with 14 tackles including six solo and one for a loss. Even more frustrating is that he will not get credit for a forced fumble and its subsequent recovery on a tremendous play on wide receiver Jermaine Kearse. Yet, it’s also the play that the injury occurred as Eric Reid pushed Kearse into Bowman and his left knee bent awkwardly.

Bowman clearly ripped the ball out of the hands of Kearse, got touched down though after the pile it got ruled that Seattle recovered the football and by NFL rules it’s not reviewable, which hardly makes any sense though that’s a different story. Even more sickening is that after being carted off the field Seahawks fans threw food at him.

As for the injury according to the most recent reports he tore his  ACL and MCL. One thing for sure is that the 49ers shouldn’t rush him back and allow for him to rehab at his own pace.
