As someone who was used to seeing Allen Robinson on occasion at TIAA Bank Field during his rehab from a torn ACL, I could tell you the former Jacksonville Jaguars and current Chicago Bears wide receiver was making progress.

Now, it has been confirmed.

According to NFL.com, Allen Robinson is ahead of schedule on his return to playing this season. The Chicago Bears hope their free agent prize will help make the passing game and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky one of the better offenses this coming season.

Robinson, who continues to rehabilitate from the torn ACL he suffered in September 2017, received an encouraging endorsement from his head coach following Wednesday’s organized team activity,” Herbie Teope of NFL.com reports.

“He’s ahead of the game,” Matt Nagy told reporters, via the Bears’ official website. “He’s looking good. We’re feeling really good about his prognosis as far as getting started, and we don’t need to rush it.”

Allen Robinson was the Jaguars’ top pass receiver in 2016 and 2017 but missed all but two plays of the 2017 season when he suffered a torn ACL against the Houston Texans. Jacksonville won the AFC South and moved on to the AFC Title game without his services. Now, in a new environment, he tries to regain his spot as one of the better pass catchers in the NFL.

Since the Bears did not have a 700-yard pass catcher last season, Robinson figures to become a favorite target of Trubisky, who will start his second season in the NFL in September.

The 24-year-old Allen Robinson has 2,848 yards receiving and 22 touchdowns on 202 catches. His best season came in 2015, when he totaled 80 catches for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns. His ability to win 50-50 balls made him a top-flight talent and should will be a change in direction for the Bears in the NFC North.

“He’s been doing great in meetings,” Nagy said. “He’s answering every question in the meetings, he’s out here focused doing everything that we want him to do.”
