Novak Djokovic (1) vs Richard Gasquet (7)

No.1 seed Djokovic had some problems in the 3rd round against Dennis Istomin, he lost the first set (2:6) but was able to recover and win the next two sets (6:4,6:4). Gasquet also had tough game against Kei Nishikori but was able do overcome 0:1 set deficit and win the game. In head to head battles, Novak Djokovic has won 7 games and lost just one to Frenchman and that makes him favorite to win this quarterfinal match-up. Richard Gasquet has good ground strokes, solid volley and solid serve but when you play Novak Djokovic on hard court, you need to play sensational game to beat him on his favorite surface. Expect from Novak to dominate the game from baseline, to change the tempo of the game when he feels that it’s necessary.

Prediction: Djokovic 2:0 Gasquet (6:4, 7:5)

Rafael Nadal (4) vs Marinko Matosevic

nadalEverything except Nadal’s easy win in this game will be surprise. Marinko Matosevic had to play Qualifications to enter the main draw and he has had really good tournament so far. But can he beat Nadal? It’s hard to believe in that. In a very close 3rd round battle against Frenchman Paire, he was able come up victorious, but spent a lot of energy and is probably tired, especially because he has already played 6 games in Montreal.

Prediction: Nadal 2:0 Matosevic (6:1, 6:4)

Vasek Pospisil vs Nikolai Davydenko

3828496416_310b3cda0e_zNobody expected that these two players will meet in the quarterfinals. Vasek Pospisil had very tough game yesterday against 5th seeded Tomas Berdych. He was able to win that game in the 3rd set Tiebreak and capture his quarterfinal spot. On the other hand, Davydenko did not need to make a huge upset in order to reach quarterfinals, his previous opponent did that for him. Bolgomolov Jr. has beaten 3rd seeded David Ferrer in the 2nd round but was absolutely dominated by experienced Nikolai Davydenko in 3rd round. Although Davydenko is getting older and his best tennis days are far behind him, he showed that he can still be very dangerous rival.

Prediction: Pospisil 1:2 Davydenko  (4:6, 7:5, 4:6)

Milos Raonic has very good serve, and that is the main reason why Canadian is always though to beat on hard court surfaces. His next opponent, Ernests Gulbis pulled of major upset in 3rd round by beating reining Wimbledon Champion, Andy Murray. It was an easy win for Latvian. You never know what to expect from Gulbis, one day he is brilliant, the next day he doesn’t show up at all. What will happen today?
