Following the devastating loss in Foxborough Stadium Sunday night, Ben Roethlisberger, the 34-year-old quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, made it clear that his future in the league isn’t certain.
In an interview with 93.7 The Fan’s “Cook and Poni Show,” Ben Roethlisberger stated, “I’m going to take this offseason to evaluate, to consider all options … to consider health, and family and things like that and just kind of take some time away to evaluate next season, if there’s going to be another season.”
After that response, Roethlisberger was pushed even further in regards to his future in the NFL.
“I’m going to take some time and evaluate with my family and just do a lot of praying about it and make sure it’s the right thing for me and my family,” he said.

Due to Ben Roethlisberger’s comments, many allegations will come forward and the drama will only keep building until we get a concrete answer from the quarterback. Mike Tomlin hasn’t spoken to Roethlisberger since his statements, but Tomlin didn’t seem too concerned.
“He said it. So you do take it seriously,” Tomlin said. “I think that that’s a fair assessment in terms of where he is in his career. I’m not alarmed by it. I just think that that’s football.
If Ben Roethlisberger were to retire, that would be detrimental to the Pittsburgh organization. For years, the Steelers have failed to lock-up a decent backup quarterback, having to settle with Landry Jones whenever Roethlisberger was out – or Zack Mettenberger as the third stringer. Their quarterback situation without Ben looks to be just as bad as their secondary.
However, this is all still speculation and Tomlin doesn’t seem to be worried. But the question still remains; What is Ben Roethlisberger’s future in the league? Only time will tell.
