Every artist has a beginning. For Berrybillionx, the journey started in a place that might surprise some people: church.
Playing instrumentals in church was his first real connection with music. What began as curiosity gradually became a passion. With no professional studio or expensive equipment, he started experimenting with music on his sister’s laptop, teaching himself how to make beats and turning simple ideas into something of his own.
Then the connections started coming.
Friends began linking him up with different artists, opening doors to collaborations and new creative experiences. Each artist he worked with brought something different, helping him understand production, songwriting, creativity and the importance of developing your own identity.
Over time, those experiences began shaping the artist known today as Berrybillionx.
His music refuses to sit comfortably inside one box. Drawing inspiration from Afrobeats, Afro fusion, Hip Hop and contemporary African sounds, Berrybillionx focuses on creating music that carries energy, melody and personality while continuing to experiment with his sound.
His catalogue reflects that evolution. One of the notable moments came with the release of “ATTENTION”, featuring Nigerian artist ODUMODUBLVCK. His journey continued with releases including “Ebg (Episode of a Bad Girl)” and “How Many”, featuring Rhatti, Laime and Sambalitual.
In 2024, Berrybillionx released his six track EP, “Fr2r”, featuring collaborations with artists including GRNDPA, Blaqboi otb, INSANE CHIPS, Zenn, Sambalitual, Psycho YP, Hotkid and Laime.
But for Berrybillionx, the music is about more than releases and collaborations. It is about creating a feeling.
He wants listeners to hear his music and connect with it in their own way. Whether it makes them dance, reminds them of a particular moment, gives them confidence or simply helps them escape for a few minutes, the goal is for the music to leave an impression.
What makes his story interesting is that there was never a perfect blueprint. There was simply curiosity, a laptop, a love for music and the decision to keep going.
From playing instrumentals in church to making beats on his sister’s laptop, then connecting with artists and eventually releasing his own projects, Berrybillionx’s journey is a reminder that you do not need to have everything figured out before you start. You just have to start.
