1. Start with the relaxed mind

You cannot solve the puzzle when stressed out or in a hurry. No doubt, solving puzzles relaxes the mind, but when you sit with the puzzle, ensure you are not occupied with other thoughts.

Start solving the puzzle when you are free and want to give your focus genuinely. In addition, try to sit with your puzzle somewhere that won’t be disturbed by other activities.

2. Start by Sorting the puzzle pieces

This is one of the most vital steps in solving puzzles. No doubt, the excitement of starting a new puzzle and the anticipation of building something beautiful is amazing, but don’t jump on the solving part before you sort the puzzle pieces.

Take the time and sort the puzzle pieces as it enhances the assembling speed and upgrades your experience. Sorting is all about putting your puzzle pieces into different categories. When you divide the pieces into segments, it gets easy to make your way and easily find the piece you’re looking for.

Let’s learn the basics of sorting your puzzle pieces so you get off on the right foot.

Sort by pictures and illustration

Every puzzle has some unique elements like shape, colour, or images, their graphics or images. Try to sort out your puzzles depending on those illustrations. However, this is not as easy as it sounds. Some pieces can be easily distinguished and recognizable with simple images, like walls, flowers, and buildings.

However, others might be more precise, like depicting the alluring illustrations of Lima Butterfly & Leaf canvas print, fuzzy pebbles, and swirly designs, making it a challenge to find an exact position on your 3D puzzle. Have patience and sort them as well with similar ones.

Make the subcategory examine your current categories and see if they can be broken down into smaller connecting groups. Do some windows have yellow curtains and others blue? Sort them. Are some cobblestones clean while others are mossy? Sort them.

3. Separate the edge pieces

Sort out the border pieces from the other puzzle pieces. The edge pieces have at least one straight side, while the centrepieces don’t have straight sides. After you select the corner pieces or pieces with two straight sides, it is time to separate the special and important pieces of your puzzle. Special pieces are those that are a pretty obvious part of the puzzle. They either have words, a specific design, or a colour or pattern found only in one small spot.

4. Assemble the Border

After you get the pieces separated, start assembling the puzzle. It’s recommended to begin with the corner pieces, as it eases the entire task by defining the space you’ll be working in.

Please keep all the corner pieces of your puzzle together and then sort out the interior pieces into smaller sections based on what area of the puzzle they appear to be from. Don’t worry if you’re missing a couple of pieces. They’ll eventually find their way.

5. Consider the pattern too

We often consider colour as a primary way to find matching pieces; however, paying attention to lines and other patterns on the puzzle piece is important. Sometimes you will match the right colour but on the wrong side, which will ruin your entire project. You can describe the shape of a jigsaw puzzle and analyze the piece based on the number of “knobs” and “holes” it has.

6. Try implementing different ways when you are stuck

Don’t force yourself to complete the puzzle. Rather, keep taking breaks, and try to do things differently if your steps are not working. Not getting how to insert the specific shape? Consider further sorting by colours. Most traditional puzzle pieces have “knobs” and “holes.”

7. Don’t Waste searching for one piece

One of the major mistakes we commit is to keep searching for one piece and then disappointing ourselves. No doubt, it’s tempting to finish the puzzle, but don’t make it boring by wasting a lot of time searching for one particular piece. Try another way; your missing piece will eventually appear when fewer pieces are left.

Enjoy your puzzle-solving time. Don’t stress. When you enjoy solving puzzles, it will make puzzles easier and more enjoyable.
