With the second season of Starz hit series Black Sails underway, it’s time to get reacquainted with the pirate that lurks inside of us.
The show’s first season was a huge success for the Starz network, as we were introduced to many memorable characters, but most importantly those who played them.
Black Sails features a slew of under-appreciated and diverse cast members. The show’s first season showed great chemistry amongst all of them.
The show’s top billed actor, Zach McGowan (Charles Vane) isn’t well-known amongst the casual Hollywood crowd, but he is slowly starting to gain a big following.
McGowan has seen minor success over recent years, with 2014 being his most successful nabbing roles in Dracula Untold and the independent film Friended To Death. He also saw a 24-episode run on Showtime’s critically acclaimed show, Shameless.
If testosterone-filled Pirates aren’t your thing, then look no further than Jessica Parker Kennedy and her role as Max. While her role on Black Sails isn’t a prestigious honor one would want to have, she is really able to sell it.
It’s surprising Kennedy hasn’t been noticed before, as she might be one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. Black Sails is her first big work since 2011, where the actress appeared in the films, 50/50 and In Time.
In addition to McGowan and Kennedy, be on the lookout for Hannah New and Luke Arnold, whom are also exceptional in their roles. Black Sails doesn’t feature the big names like other Pirate franchises, but it hits the spot, and you can thank its under-appreciated crew for that.
