When we first became involved with the Virgin Islands Montessori School & Peter Gruber International Academy (VIMSIA), we weren’t just looking for a good school — we were drawn to a place that puts heart into everything it does. VIMSIA isn’t just a campus where students go to learn. It’s a community built around curiosity, care, and a real commitment to helping children grow into confident, thoughtful human beings.  Marco’s Mother was a montessori teacher her whole career and we loved the way the learning environment fostered curiosity and independence.

I was honored to serve on the Board of Trustees where I could apply my skills from finance as Treasurer and head of the endowment.

The Board’s job is to support the administration and help plan for the long-term health of the school. We’re not involved in the daily operations – that’s the job of VIMSIA’s exceptional leadership and faculty – but we’re here to make sure the school has the resources it needs to grow responsibly. My focus is on financial stewardship: working with the rest of the board to help make strategic decisions, protect the school’s mission, and ensure sustainability for future generations.

Serving alongside other trustees I’ve seen how much care and attention goes into every conversation we have. Whether we’re reviewing budgets, supporting capital improvements, or helping plan for long-term growth, the goal is always the same: to make sure every child at VIMSIA gets the education they deserve in an environment that nurtures them.

I’m inspired most by our students. You see them on campus – engaged, self-assured, creative. They’re encouraged to ask hard questions, try new things, and care about the world around them. That’s no accident. It’s the result of a school culture that blends academic rigor with social-emotional learning, global thinking, and respect for individuality.

Being part of this board has been a privilege. It’s about doing the kind of behind-the-scenes work that allows something special to keep thriving. I believe deeply in what VIMSIA stands for – not just as a parent or supporter, but as someone committed to seeing strong, ethical, community-minded leadership in our schools.

This school isn’t just about building strong students. It’s about helping shape a stronger community we have been honored to be part of.
