WASHINGTON, D.C. — In what was widely expected and the biggest non-kept secret in NFL circles, Jay Gruden was fired as head coach of the Washington Redskins, per media reports.

35-49-1 in six seasons with 0 playoff wins in one appearance, Gruden’s tenure in our nation’s capital was marred by a lack of consistency, turmoil and an inability to compete in a always-tough NFC East.

Thanks to starting 0-5 and facing mounting pressure to start rookie QB Dwayne Haskins over veterans Colt McCoy and Case Keenum, Gruden sealed his fate in Washington.

Offensive line coach Bill Callahan will take over as interim head coach.
