Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers are two of the best quarterbacks that the Green Bay Packers have ever had. They are both fan favorites, which made the injury to Aaron Rodgers bring up rumors that Favre could come back to play one more season with the green and gold. Unfortunately for Packers’ fans, that is not going to happen.

According to a report from Ed Werder, Favre has already said that he will not consider returning to the NFL even if the Packers were to come calling about a reunion.

Obviously, no one expected Favre to come out of retirement after all this time. Favre has also talked about noticing some changes that his playing career has had on his body. That alone likely crossed him off the list of potential moves that the Packers could have made to replace Rodgers.

At this point in time, it looks like head coach Mike McCarthy is confident in backup quarterback Brett Hundley. Hundley didn’t show many reasons to be confident in him, throwing three interceptions, although he did throw a touchdown pass as well in relief of Rodgers against the Minnesota Vikings.

There are other options that the Packers could look into as well. If they choose to go the free agency route, there are options like Robert Griffin III, Colin Kaepernick, and Tony Romo. As for a trade, Green Bay could look into the possibility of acquiring a player like Jimmy Garoppolo, although that doesn’t seem likely.

More than likely, the Packers are going to stick with Hundley and third-string quarterback Joe Callahan. Green Bay may end up missing the playoffs when everything is said and done.

Rodgers has to be frustrated with the way his injury happened. It appeared that Vikings’ linebacker Anthony Barr hit Rodgers late and drove his neck and shoulder into the ground. That resulted in a broken collarbone, which is Rodgers’ second career collarbone injury.

Expect to see the Packers struggle over the next few weeks. There is a slim chance that Hundley could keep them in the playoff race long enough for Rodgers to return from injury, but those chances are not very high.

Do you think the Green Bay Packers can remain a playoff team with Hundley leading the way? Should they go out and bring a new quarterback in? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
