Today was the fourth time this season the Indiana Fever have played the New York Liberty. In game one Breanna Stewart went off for 31 points and 10 rebounds and in game no.2 Stewart went for 24 points and five rebounds, and in game three it was Betnijah Laney-Hamilton leading the way with 2o points and five rebounds. For Caitlin Clark it was her worst game of the season as she went 1-10 from the field and finished with three points.
In two of the three games the Fever lost by 36 points and in the other loss by 11. Clark had one of her better performances of the season in that game shooting 9-17 from the field and finished 4-10 from three on her way to 22 points, she also recorded eight rebounds, and six assists.
Indiana got off to a solid start and led by six after the first quarter. Yet it appeared New York had taken control in the second and third quarter outscoring the Fever 44-31.
Yet the Fever did not back down and outscored the Liberty 28-16 in the fourth quarter. Clark made her mark by becoming the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double and it also was the first in franchise history for Indiana.
Clark finished with 19 points, 13 assists, 12 rebounds, and two steals. She shot 7-17 from the field, did struggle hitting the three only going 3-12, and made both her free throws. Aliyah Boston finished with 18 points and eight rebounds on 8-12 shooting, Kelsey Mitchell scored 14, and NaLyssa Smith recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Liberty, Sabrina Ionescu led the way with 22 points yet struggled shooting the ball as she was 9-23 from the field and 4-13 from three, Laney-Hamilton added 20 points, and Stewart was the only other player in double figures and she also struggled shooting going 3-11 from the field yet made 8-10 free throws.
With the loss the Liberty are now 17-4 on the season and the Fever improved to 9-13.
