Before the start of the college football season, Cam Robinson was a can’t miss, top 10 draft pick. Now, there are varied opinions about the Alabama tackle with his NFL future on the horizon.

Will he play left or right tackle? Is he ultimately a guard in the league? Will a team grab him in the middle or later part of the first round, or will some team “steal” him at the top half of the second round?

Cam Robinson met with the New York Giants earlier this week, just one of his many visits so far on this journey. The Giants, like a handful of NFL teams, need to shore up their offensive lines and could use a player who not only played in the SEC but is versatile to man may positions.

“The Giants have the 23rd overall pick in the first round and Robinson, Garett Bolles and Ryan Ramczyk are considered to be the top three tackles in this draft class,” writes Ed Valentine of Big Blue Review. “What order are those three players in on the Giants’ draft board? Would they select an offensive tackle over a play-making offensive player or a linebacker? Well, everyone has a different take on those questions.”

There is no question Robinson will play in the NFL. Where he is drafted is the bigger question.

In this player profile, we will look at the strengths and weaknesses of Robinson as he moves on to the next level. We also include a few teams that will be interested in adding help to their offensive line.

Strengths

Cam Robinson has a solid frame and is very athletic for his thick frame. Therefore, he moves into this blocker with force and generates power with his size. Additionally, he can move his opponent backward and act effectively as a drive blocker. With this in mind, he has the potential to play multiple positions in the NFL and may wind up at guard as his eventual line spot.

Weaknesses

Weight can be an issue. He will need to work to keep that down on the next level. Robinson has Balance issues and struggles with active, high-motor defenders. At times, he ducks head into his run blocks, losing sight of a moving target.

Teams Interested

New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals
