Carrie (Bradshaw) Advice Every Girl Should Know

Almost every girl or woman out there knows about Carrie Bradshaw, the free-spirited and insanely stylish heroine of the iconic TV series “Sex and the city”. She seems to have it all: she lives in New York City, works at her dream job and has her own apartment, even though it’s a tad small for her extensive collection of shoes and clothes. Yet, that never stops Carrie from buying more, because as she says: “I like my money right where I can see it: in my closet”. Therefore, it’s completely expected of her to always have the latest designer dress or a bag. Now, if you’ve also grown up admiring Carrie’s spirit and fashion sense, here are some tips that you should definitely know:

1. Don’t settle for anyone

Carrie had more than a few guys in her life, and who can forget the perfect Aidan who was there anytime she needed him, and even more. Then there was romantic Russian ballet dancer Alexandr Petrovsky, who whisked her off to Paris without hesitation. Yet, none of the men she dated compared to the one and only Mr. Big, the intense and mysterious businessman who was as unattached as he was drawn to her. Mr. Big showed his true colors many times, but that didn’t stop Carrie from pursuing him time and time again.

The thing is, all of her men were wrong for her, but Mr. Big was the right kind of wrong, which is why she ended up with him. Therefore, the most important lesson to learn from Carrie is to never settle for someone who doesn’t make you feel a bit dizzy whenever he calls you or texts you. Chances are, if you two are the perfect match, you’ll end up in each other’s arms.

2. Your closet is your sanctuary

Maybe Carrie isn’t the right person to teach you money management, but what you can learn is how to look fabulous even when you feel sad and hopeless. There’s no problem that cannot be solved with the right pair of shoes and a romantic Realisation par dress, so next time you feel low, feel free to indulge yourself with a new piece of clothing.

Of course, it’s important to mention that you should also be wise with your spending, so you won’t end up in debt. Being stylish at almost any occasion will make you feel more self-assured to meet new people and be more outgoing.

3. When things go wrong, your friends are there

Sitting with your friends and discussing your latest boyfriend over a few drinks is one of the most fulfilling experiences that you could possibly have. Even if you don’t have such a close-knit group of friends like Carrie, it shouldn’t stop you from having fun with women in your life. Your sister, mom or cousin can also console you and offer you some advice whenever you need it.

Also, you don’t need to gather them together in one place, but in order to have a healthy outlook on life and dating, it’s best to be surrounded by various women who’ll be able to offer you their viewpoint. Someone like Charlotte may tell you to slow down and enjoy the romance, while a friend like Samantha can tell you to forget your moral inhibitions and just let yourself go. Don’t exclude some women from your life just because they’re different from you.

4. When you don’t know what to do, just go out

Carrie is a social butterfly, we all know that, and let’s be honest, it’s easy to go from one party to another when you live in New York and have made connections that will provide you with the invitation to the hottest party in town. Now, if you live in a place that doesn’t have exclusive launch parties or a vibrant party scene, that doesn’t mean you should stay at home and feel sorry for yourself. Instead, get yourself ready and ask your friend for a drink or just go for a walk. Being outside can help you clear your thoughts and maybe even meet someone who’s intelligent and fun.

Conclusion

Being a girl or a woman nowadays isn’t always easy. But if you know yourself and your values, you will be fine. Always surround yourself with people who wish you well and whenever in doubt, get yourself dressed up and don’t be shy to hit the dance floor. Chances are, you’ll soon feel great, fashionable and self-confident.
