His goal is not just to deliver lessons, but to create classrooms where students feel safe, seen, and supported—especially those from marginalized or underrepresented backgrounds.
His advocacy for youth extends well beyond academics. For years, Donovan Burgmaier has been deeply involved in community initiatives and mentorship programs, including his long-standing role as a coach with the Peak School of Football and Golden Bears Football Academy. He also serves as a guest coach at the Edmonton Eskimos Amateur Football Camp and the Northern Alberta High School Senior Bowl tryouts. These coaching roles go beyond the Xs and Os of the game—they are opportunities to uplift and inspire young people through structure, discipline, and encouragement.
Donovan’s impact is also visible in his volunteerism. He has served with Kids Kottage, helping children in crisis, and with Santa’s Anonymous, ensuring families receive gifts and support during the holidays. As a VOICE Ambassador, he’s spoken out on gender-based violence prevention, demonstrating his commitment to creating safer, more inclusive communities for all. Each initiative reflects his values of compassion, advocacy, and service.
Professionally, Donovan’s background includes roles that have prepared him to lead with empathy and tenacity. From pipefitting and welding assistance in Alberta’s oil and gas sector to customer-facing work as a door installer for Solaris, and now as a front desk associate at the Turf Training Centre, Donovan has learned the value of hard work and adaptability. These experiences make him relatable and grounded—traits that will serve him well in the classroom and as a future school administrator.
Looking forward, Donovan Burgmaier aspires to become a teacher and later transition into a principal role, where he can shape school culture and promote educational equity. He also hopes to travel the world, open an athletic gym, and invest in real estate as part of his long-term vision. But no matter where life takes him, his focus will remain constant: championing youth and honoring culture.
