It is safe to say the Yankees are in selling mode. A week ago, they traded Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs for a slew of top prospects. Well, it seems that Andrew Miller is also heading out of the Bronx, New York and is now calling Cleveland home. Early this morning after the Cleveland Indians lost out on Jonathan Lucroy they were able to acquire Andrew Miller from the Yankees. In return, the Indians are sending the Yankees some prospects that include Clint Frazier and Justus Sheffield. Frazier and Sheffield are seen in high regards within the Indians organization.

Originally, the New York Yankees were not planning on trading their two top relief pitchers but once Chapman was traded to the Cubs last week the possibility of Andrew Miller being dealt went up big time. The reason, however why the Yankees were holding out was the asking price they were telling teams was a bit steep. Andrew Miller made remarks after learning he was being dealt, and he said, ““I loved my time here. I enjoyed playing in New York. I liked living in New York,” Miller said before the Yankees’ game Sunday in Tampa. “I like the guys here. I’m going to miss that. It’s time I’m going to look back at fondly. For me now, it’s a chance to go to a team that’s in the thick of it and has big plans for this year. So, you have to look at the positives and helping those guys reach their goals.”

Andrew Miller ended up becoming a major fixture during his time in New York. In 2016, Andrew Miller appeared in 44 games for the Yankees this season, posting a 6-1 record with a 1.39 ERA and nine saves. He is averaging 15.3 strikeouts per nine innings, and he had allowed runs in just eight of his 44 appearances. Between the Chapman deal last week and the Miller deal today, many people are saying that the Yankees now have some of the best players in the farm system.

The last time the New York Yankees had a loaded farm system you need to go back to the mid-1990’s. At that point, the Yankees farm system had Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Mariano Rivera to name a few. All three of the mentioned players went on to have great careers, and it’s safe to assume that Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera are going to be first- ballot Hall of Famers.
