INSCMagazine: Get Social!

Whether you’re just beginning to date, a regular player or jumping back into the game after a long hiatus, the same question arises:  How soon for the first kiss? What about a make-out session? Then comes the more serious issue when is it the right time to have sex?

According to new research, having sex on the first date will likely screw up a relationship. Scientists at Brigham Young University followed 11,000 unmarried people in serious relationships and asked those involved to rate their level of satisfaction with their relationship.

One question that got specifically asked was about their ability to communicate with their partner and how stable their relationship felt.

Interestingly enough couples who had been together for at least a year and had sex on the first date or within two weeks of dating weren’t satisfied with the relationship, communicated less effectively and the relationship wasn’t stable then those who waited or in some cases didn’t have sex with their partner.

There’s no question that men like challenges and women like to feel special. In these situations it means having to work towards the ultimate goal, creates romance and an emotional connection. By bypassing that on the first date, the interest is no longer there.

What might have been a great relationship turns into something casual foregoing the relationship building.

Many have time lines for specific events in a relationship including when to make love. Of course there are different interpretation, yet in certain situations even with a great plan things tend to not go as planned, which may end up in disappointment.

Here’s a look at what question to ask yourself before even considering sex.

  1.  Are you an exclusive couple?
  2. Do you want a relationship with him?

  3. Have you created a basic foundation to a relationship?

  4. Do you think you’ll regret it if you do have sex?

  5. Do you respect each other?

  6. You genuinely like each other.

  7. You have already shown affection to each other.

  8. You’ve had open discussions about sex.

  9. You’re comfortable around each other.

Is there a perfect time to have sex after you start dating? No. Every couple is different. There’s a chance of falling in love quickly or it may take time. Truly there’s no way to tell. Just make sure that the decision is mutual and it’s done for the right reasons.
