The next wave of superhero films is upon us. With roughly 20 films in the next 5 years being released fans might be getting their fill. However, Wonder Woman could be the most important. Very few superhero films feature female superheroes, and none feature one as a lead role. With movies such as Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman getting mixed reviews, DC also needs their films to come alive.

Today, via twitter DC release the second trailer for Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. One of the most notable things in the new trailer is the visual beauty of the film. The stand alone project will be an organ story for Diana Prince and how she fits into the DC fold. With Justice League just on the horizon fans should expect a great deal from the character.
Gal Gadot will bring the character to life in her first solo film. Wonder Woman needs to be the success story to bring Warner Bros back to life. Marvel has shown that females can be heroes with characters like Black Widow and Scarlet Witch. DC needs to set the stage for more female dominant roles. Even Marvel will be behind the DC curve not set to release their first female lead project until 2019’s Captain Marvel. Will critics pick Wonder Woman as DC’s first success? Will fans be bogged down by superhero fatigue? Will Wonder Woman establish a new franchise or just a set up in the DC big picture? Find out June 2nd, 2017.
