One thing become clear during the Sacramento Kings coaching saga, Demarcus Cousins didn’t want any part of it.

With the Kings set to hire George Karl after the All-Star break, Cousins might finally be able to rest easy, but according to a tweet from Adrian Wojnarowski it wasn’t easy for Cousins to remain calm.

“I wasn’t consulted when the decision was made to fire Mike Malone and I’m not being consulted now. “I just hope they make a decision soon and stick with it. George Karl is an experienced, proven coach and if that is who they chose to coach this team, I will support it. I do not like all these discussions in the media while we have a coach in place. It is a distraction and not fair to Coach Corbin and this team.”

The Kings coaching search became somewhat of a sideshow in Sacramento, but it shouldn’t have taken away from the team. Owner Vivek Ranadive has been very hands on since he took over as team owner. Although, it’s best that he leave the basketball decisions to the basketball people. Despite what some in the media have speculated, those people don’t include Cousins.

However, with George Karl taking over as Kings head coach, Cousins will no longer have to worry about distractions. Karl is one of the premier coaches in NBA history, and his style of fast-paced play will fit in well with what the Kings are trying to establish. It will also give Cousins a true veteran coach to work under, something Malone and Corbin failed to give him.

The Kings are a long way from competing in the Western Conference. However, the addition of George Karl gives the team hope for the future, and hopefully no distractions.
