When DeMarcus Ware entered the NFL many thought he would have a solid career. It would soon be known that a solid career would turn into nothing short of outstanding. Ware would become one of the premiere pass rushers in the NFL during his career. A career that lasted 12 years. Here is a look back at Ware’s wonderful career.

The Dallas Cowboys drafted DeMarcus Ware with the 11th pick of the first-round in 2005 NFL Draft. He played his college ball at Troy University in the Sun-Belt Conference. His draft profile had him listed as a so-called “tweener.” The type of player that is not an OLB but not a DE either. This label makes him the perfect 3-4 OLB.

Ware would play 9 seasons with the Cowboys. He would leave the franchise as the all-time leader in sacks with 117. His breakout season was in 2008 in which he charted 20 sacks. He would win the pass rushing title for the first time in his career. He would be named NFC Defensive Player of the Year.

Ware would continue to impact the NFC East and NFL during his tenure with the Cowboys. However, a switch to the 4-3 defense would lead Ware to the end of his career with the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys granted his release on March 11, 2014. He was now free to sign with any other team for the first time in his career.

One day after being released from the Cowboys, Ware signed a 3-year deal with the Denver Broncos. He would start at ROLB from day one. He would be opposite the phenomenal pass rusher Von Miller. Together they would form one of the most feared pass rushes in the league.

DeMarcus Ware would announce his retirement on March 13, 2017. He would leave the league as the 8th best sack artist of all time (138.5). He was also named to 9 Pro Bowls. Ware finished as a 4x first team All-Pro and 3x second teamer. His outstanding career would also have him finish with 2 pass rushing titles (2008, 2010), 2 Dick Butkus Awards (2008, 2001), and 2008 NFC Defensive Player of the Year. Finally, his outstanding career would be rewarded with a Super Bowl Championship in Super Bowl 50. This all but assures him a trip to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
