Tonight before the Minnesota Timberwolves or Golden State Warriors were able to score a point, there were three ejections.
Jaden McDaniels of the Timberwolves and Klay Thompson of the Warriors had a bit of a skirmish, then Rudy Gobert entered the fray and actually wrapped his arms around the neck of Thompson. That is when Draymond Green and stood up for his long time teammate by grabbing Gobert and putting him in a head lock.
After the refs reviewed the play McDaniels, Thompson, and Green were ejected. Surprisingly enough Gobert was not assessed a technical foul or ejected for his role.
On social media, there are calls for Green to get suspended for at least 10 games. That is a bit extreme and unlikely, he likely gets fined and at worst he gets suspended for a game or two if there is one at all.
Interestingly enough Green did get support from Paul Pierce who tweeted “I respect what Draymond brings to the game don’t change fa nobody.”
Also, those ejections are another great example of how soft the NBA has become. The only thing that can get said is that Green needed to let go of Gobert a little bit sooner. Yet cannot blame him one bit for protecting Thompson.
Here is an interesting take from a former bouncer on it as well.
I used to work as a bouncer in my mid-20s. They teach you that when you break up a fight, always pull people away from behind. And to calmly tell them why you’re removing them from the establishment. Draymond did both of these things. I see nothing wrong. https://t.co/iFpkyADIi3
