If it’s got a cape, they’ve made a movie about it right?

Wrong.

The seemingly endless tidal wave of superhero movies shows little sign of slowing any time soon. On the back of the hugely successful Avengers series and it’s many spin-offs, there are some incredible blockbusters coming up in the next year, both from established franchises and some newcomers to the party.

Let’s take a look at what you can expect to see in 2016, including a little bit of insider news.

1. Deadpool, February 2016

Remember the Ryan Reynolds character from the Wolverine movie? Well he’s back, sort of. Reynolds returns to play the former special forces operative, given regenerative powers by a rogue experiment, wise-cracking his way through this darkly comedic action movie. It has been widely reported that this Deadpool, although played by the same actor will have no connection to the one we saw in Wolverine, thanks to the time travelling jiggery-pokery of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

2. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, March 2016

Yes! you read it correctly, two of DC Comics greatest heroes are about to clash headlong in this precursor to the Avengers-rivaling Justice League movie, due in 2017. We’ll be seeing the alien from Krypton and the Dark Knight on opposing sides as portrayed in these superhero images at europalace, where you can experience The Dark Knight Rises slots.

Henry Cavill returns as Superman but there is a much-publicized new man in the Batmobile. Christian Bale turned down the opportunity, so the mantle is passed to Ben Affleck, playing Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego.

3. Suicide Squad, August 2016

50 years after the Joker first hit our TV and movie screens in 1966, the fan-favorite villain is back, this time in the shape of Jared Leto, the third Oscar-winner to play the part on the big screen. You could call it an anti superhero film, as a group of super villains are brought together as a black ops team. Will Smith makes an appearance as Deadshot, alongside Cara Delevigne playing Enchantress. Sadly there is no return for Bane, but you can see him in The Dark Knight Rises slots at europalace. Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman are both tie-ins with the Justice League movie in production, which may explain why a certain Mr. Affleck will be donning the black cape in this too!

4. Doctor Strange, October 2016

You might think that 2016 is going to be all about DC characters, but Marvel are not taking the year off. They will be pulling out another gem from their vault, in the shape of Doctor Strange, a brilliant surgeon whose career is ruined, before being taken in by a sorcerer, who trains him to defend the world against evil.

The doctor in question will be played by British flavor of the month in Benedict Cumberbatch, well know for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, as well as the dragon Smaug in the Hobbit series. His sidekick here will be the Scarlett Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
