Q: Your career spans science, invention, investment, and art. What first inspired your lifelong pursuit of innovation?

Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang: Everything begins with passion. I believe work should be driven by genuine enthusiasm rather than obligation. Many people separate work from happiness, but I see them as inseparable. The difficult path often leads to the greatest rewards.

When I began developing laboratory-grown Imperial Green jadeite, many believed it was impossible. Thousands of experiments failed before success finally arrived. That same persistence now drives our work on photonic quantum computing. Every breakthrough starts with the willingness to continue when others would stop.

Q: LongServing Technology is becoming increasingly associated with photonic quantum chips. Why do you believe this technology is so important?

Dr. Fang: Artificial intelligence is growing at an incredible pace, but electronic chips are approaching their physical and energy limits. Modern data centers consume enormous amounts of electricity, and as AI expands, this challenge will only become greater.

Photonic quantum chips use light rather than electricity for computation. This approach has the potential to dramatically reduce energy consumption while delivering significantly higher computing performance. I believe photonic computing represents the next major chapter in technological evolution.

Q: One of your most talked-about innovations is X-Photon. What makes this material significant?

Dr. Fang: X-Photon is a photonic quantum material that emits light at an ultra-short wavelength of approximately two nanometers. It is designed for nanoscale photonic pathways, photonic transistors, and future photonic quantum chips.

For us, this material provides the foundation for building highly integrated optical computing systems. It is an important step toward making photonic quantum computing practical for future generations of AI, robotics, and advanced computing.

Q: LongServing is also developing photonic memory. How does it differ from today’s memory technologies?

Dr. Fang: Traditional systems repeatedly convert information between electrical and optical signals. Photonic memory is designed to store optical information directly, minimizing those conversions.

Combined with photonic chips, this technology has the potential to greatly improve computational efficiency while reducing energy loss. We believe it will become a key component of future optical computing platforms.

Q: Your innovations extend beyond computing into biotechnology. Why enter this field?

Dr. Fang: Technology should solve meaningful human problems. Cancer remains one of the greatest medical challenges of our time.

Our biotechnology research focuses on natural plant extract compounds with potential anti-tumor applications. We are exploring low-toxicity formulations, nanoscale delivery systems, and targeted treatment strategies designed to reduce the side effects associated with conventional therapies. We continue to seek research partners to accelerate this work.

Q: You often describe yourself as an artist before calling yourself an inventor. How has art influenced your scientific thinking?

Dr. Fang: I began painting as a child, studying traditional Chinese Gongbi techniques before learning watercolor and oil painting.

Art teaches observation, patience, and refinement. Creating a painting or sculpture is much like creating technology—you remove unnecessary elements until only the essential remains. That philosophy has influenced how I approach engineering, research, and business.

Q: LongServing has recently entered the luxury fashion industry. What inspired that move?

Dr. Fang: Art should not remain on gallery walls. In 2026, we transformed my original paintings into apparel, footwear, handbags, and accessories.

We also integrated our laboratory-grown jadeite into handcrafted boutique bags. The result is a combination of technology, craftsmanship, and artistic expression. It represents another way of sharing creativity with people around the world.

Q: What makes LongServing Technology different from many traditional technology companies?

Dr. Fang: We are willing to pursue ambitious, multidisciplinary challenges rather than focusing on a single industry.
