Just when it seems that the hard-luck Cleveland Browns injury woes can’t seem to get any worse, the football gods once again decide to smite them down. This could be bad news for your fantasy football team, so we evaluate whether Corey Coleman should start or sit in Week 3.

One week after starting quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Luke McCown would be sidelined with shoulder injuries, rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman suffered a broken hand injury during practice, as first reported by Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

Coleman is one of Cleveland’s few bright spots in what has already been a train wreck of a season. He was the 15th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Baylor, led all rookie wideouts in receiving touchdowns (2), was second in receiving yards (173), yards per catch (24.7) and yards per game (86.5) and sixth in receptions (7).

In what was his breakout game in the NFL, Coleman caught five passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 2 25-20 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

With reports emerging Thursday that surgery will not be needed and that the 5’11, 195-pound 22-year-old dynamo will be out 4-6 weeks, it would be wise to consider other options at WR3/FLEX, as Coleman was well on his way to becoming a deep sleeper in various leagues.

Once a roster bereft of wide receiver talent, Cleveland has a legit WR2 option in Terrelle Pryor and WR3 option in veteran Andrew Hawkins. A possible deep sleeper to keep an eye on in going into their Week 3 matchup vs. the 0-2 Miami Dolphins is Rashard Higgins, who formed a bit of a chemistry with newly anointed starter Cody Kessler.

If you are desperate and in need of immediate depth to stash away on your bench for a bye, look no further than Cleveland. Unfortunately, the crown jewel in Coleman looks to be sidelined indefinitely.
