Quincy Enunwa was one of the early fantasy football waiver wire darlings after posting 7/54/1 and 6/92 lines in weeks one and two. After that, Ryan Fitzpatrick began to slip, and a season-ending injury to Eric Decker put the passing game into a full-on tailspin. Enunwa was not immune to that tailspin, as after his breakout he did not score or top sixty yards in his next four games. Enunwa has pulled it out of the fire in his last two games, however, going for an average of 83 yards and a score over the last two games.

However, there is a definite explanation for Enunwa’s woes, and they aren’t just explained away with Fitzpatrick’s ability to crater at a moment’s notice. The four-game stretch where Enunwa was unable to produce was: Kansas City, Seattle, Pittsburgh, and Arizona. That’s the number 16, 27, 23 and 30 defenses against quarterbacks this season, meaning that they took on one neutral matchup and three of the worst possible matchups in the four-week span that saw Enunwa back on the waiver wire. While these matchups are a mixed bag against wide receivers, you must consider Enunwa’s quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, as one of the most disaster-prone players in the league. His highs are high and his lows are insanely low. He would, and did, shrink hard against these terrible matchups for him. As his second wide receiver option, this obviously brought Enunwa down with him.
This week, however, the Jets take on the Dolphins, who are the #11 team on the season against quarterbacks and top-ten against wide receivers. This makes for a pro matchup for Enunwa, who will be able to take advantage of a questionable Dolphins secondary that is without one of the league’s best safeties with Reshad Jones out for the season. This will limit the downside of Fitzpatrick’s YOLO tendencies for the Jets and will lead to more opportunities for Enunwa.

This year Enunwa has had half good games and half bad, and a look at the matchups will give you a quick shortcut for when he will be able to slot into your roster. This week’s matchup against the Dolphins is a top matchup for him, and he should be slotted into your lineups if you have him this week. He will be a back-end WR2 and given the bye week situation, you could do worse than Enunwa this week. He should be able to take advantage of a great matchup to have another great game this weekend.
