At this point in the fantasy football season, you’re likely no longer streaming, but things like Colin Kaepernick cratering against the Bears happen, and may leave you wanting for another quarterback. Below are three quarterbacks available in 50% of Yahoo! leagues or more (and two this week available in at least 90%) in the best position to be fantasy relevant in week fourteen.[embedit snippet=”jeff-ads”]
Colin Kaepernick versus the Jets (37% owned)
I’m going back to the Kaepernick well; I ain’t afraid of no ghosts (though Kaepernick is, which is why he is so itchy to leave the pocket). He had one of the worst performances in recent memory last week in Chicago but I’m giving him a pass. It was snowing pretty badly, and he had only ten passing opportunities (five pass attempts, five sacks). This week it isn’t going to snow in Santa Clara, so I am going to bank on three-of-four weeks of top-ten quarterback production instead of the recency bias of a dreadful game in Chicago. Both teams are packing it in for the year in what promises to be a low-effort shootout.
Trevor Siemian at Tennessee (10% owned)
Siemian is injured right now, and his foot injury has left him as questionable for Sunday. If it is Paxton Lynch, this is not a sleeper play, but Siemian has put together a handful of decent enough fantasy performances lately, snagging over sixty fantasy points in his last three games played. The Titans, for their part, are a surprisingly yielding matchup against quarterbacks, allowing at least 18.7 fantasy points to every quarterback that has gone up against them since week six. Siemian is questionable, and his backup, Paxton Lynch, isn’t an advised start, so if you want to go with Siemian, make him a plan B. Though if he’s your plan A… how are you still alive?
Jared Goff versus Atlanta (4% owned)
Goff hasn’t been great thus far in his early career, turning in a dud, a decent game, and another dud. However, this week he gets the Falcons at home. The Falcons will be without their best defensive player, Desmond Trufant, and I already wrote about how Kenny Britt is going to feast this weekend. Goff already did well against the Saints in a plus matchup, and gets another weak NFC South defense this week as he takes on the Falcons squad that allows the most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.
