MADRID — Saturday will mark the 261st meeting between Spain’s two greatest futbol clubs, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona otherwise known as El Clasico.

This year’s first meeting between the two clubs will help shape the outlook for the first half of the 2014-15 La Liga season with FC Barcelona standing on top of the table with a 7-1-0 undefeated record. Most modern football fans like to see El Clasico to see two of the world’s best footballers go head to head in Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid and Barcelona both look really hot coming off their UEFA Champions League fixtures earlier this week with Barcelona taking down Ajax Amsterdam 3-1 on Tuesday and Real Madrid walking out of Anfield with a 3-0 clean sheet of Liverpool.

Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique has confirmed that Luis Suarez will make his Barcelona debut during El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

Enrique on Suarez’s debut “He will have some minutes for sure, how many I cannot say.” “It is a big thing for him, to join up finally with the team and get some minutes.”

The clash between Barça and Real Madrid has always been the biggest event in La Liga, but Suarez’s return from his four-month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini at last summer’s World Cup adds extra excitement to the first El Clasico of the 2014-15 La Liga aalendar.

Aside from Suarez, a few notable Real Madrid signings from the summer’s transfer window will get to see their first El Clasico. First being Columbian midfielder James Rodriguez, the former AS Monaco forward and 2014 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner, and Tony Kroos, a former FC Bayern and UEFA Champions League winner will take the field at the Bernabeu.

There is also a good possibility Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti may play Mexican International and Manchester United Loanee Javier Hernández against Barcelona on Saturday.

As for Enrique, this would mark his first El Clasico as the boss of FC Barcelona. Enrique would become the 2nd Barcelona Player to eventually manage FC Barcelona in El Clasico. As for Enrique’s past however, he wore a Real Madrid shirt from 1991-1996 before a signing a deal with FC Barcelona where he would later finish his career from 1996-2004 scoring 72 goals for Barcelona over his eight-year reign at Barça of course later on after football.

Enrique would return to Barcelona to coach the Barcelona B Team from 2008 to 2011. Enrique would succeed longtime teammate, Pep Guardiola when he took over the club. “I have come home”, and “I finished playing here and now I will start coaching here.” Just as Guardiola he too eventually had success, helping the club return to division two in his second season, after an absence of 11 years.

In mid-March 2011, Luis Enrique announced his departure from Barcelona B at the end of the season, despite still having two years left on his contract.[21] He led the side to the playoffs, but it was ineligible for promotion.

Later on in 2014, Enrique would take on the reigns of FC Barcelona signing a two-year contract.

Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti has teased a “surprise” ahead of his side’s Clasico match with Barcelona on causing an explosion on social media questioning what Ancelotti will do with his starting XI in the match no other information has been revealed at this very moment on what the “surprise” will be.

As for Messi and Ronaldo, this will be a classic clash for the two forwards. Messi came off of the Ajax match with a goal and Ronaldo scored once against Liverpool on Wednesday. All in all this match will prove to be an eventful one for football fans everywhere. #elclasico #RMFC #FCB #UCL #UEFACL #UEFAChampionsLeague
