INSCMagazine: Get Social!

It is many people’s aspirations to start and maintain an exercise regime in order to stay fit. But sometimes, it can be difficult to keep up with this type of exercise, for many reasons.

One of the major reason is that some of us live in climates that have uncomfortable conditions.

Keeping up a strict exercise routine can be taxing if you have to do it in extreme heat or cold. If you do not have access to an indoor gym or basic workout equipment , you will have an additional challenge. There are many methods of getting around these climate conditions and remain fit and healthy!

Keep Your Body Cool: A key thing to remember when exercising in heat is that your body may overheat if you push it too far. Keeping your body cooled down while you exercise will counteract the extra work your body is doing.

Having some water on hand is useful for drinking as well as pouring over your head.

This will refresh you and the cold sensation will appease your brain. Maintaining your core body temperature is important when working out. The kind of clothing that you wear is important in keeping your body cool. Cotton clothing does not breathe well and doesn’t let air into your skin.

There is specific clothing that you can get just for exercising. It is typically made out of polyester, microfibers or thin wool.

Workout Under the Sun: If you are exercising outside, as many people do, you will need to take certain precautions when exercising under the sun. If you are in a place with very high temperatures and humidity levels, you will need to limit your exposure to the sun. You can do this by working out in the shade and near trees and buildings.

Avoiding the sun like this will be very beneficial, because you will not have the added heat of the sun’s rays hitting your skin. If you live in a place that is very cold, the opposite will hold true. You will want to get as much exposure to the sun as possible, so as to keep your body temperature up.

As well, the sun helps to produce Vitamin D in your body, which speeds up the process of nutrition absorption. Although if you plan to be in the sun for a prolonged period of time, don’t forget your sunscreen!

Work-Out at Home: Sometimes there is just no escaping the weather conditions outside. If you need to move your workout routine inside your home, it is typically due to precipitation or high humidity levels. The effects of high humidity can negatively affect your physical health, and so should be avoided if possible.

Working out at home might not sound exciting to some people, but it will give you the workout that your body needs.

Try setting up a home gym with everything that you think you might need. Workout equipment can be found either online or in a shop. If you are not sure what you should be getting, find some information first. Talk to someone at a gym such as a fitness coach.

They will be able to point you in the right direction as you set off on your fitness adventure!

Take Advantage of Your Local Gym: This one applies to both hot and cool climates because most gyms are climate controlled. So, if you live in an area that’s hot most of the year and you risk heat exhaustion when working out at home or outside, head to your local gym and bask in the glorious AC.

But if you live in a cool, Northern climate and working out at home is becoming mundane, check out your local gym for a change of scenery and also take advantage of the saunas to warm your muscles on chilly days.

Conclusion: It is easy to find an excuse to cut your fitness plan short. A common excuse is that the climate does not suit what they had intended to do. This is not a reason to stop working out! All you need to do is adjust your fitness plan to correspond to where you live. Keeping your body cool, working with the sun and working out at home are all methods that you can utilize when you are exercising.

If you want to start living a healthier and better life, you have the power to make that happen. All you have to do is stop telling yourself ‘no’ all the time. Open yourself up to the possibility that life is not going to give you exactly what you want. However, you can definitely still work with what you have been given! Once you have realized that, you will be on your way to a newer and healthier you!
