If next week’s AP Poll has Clemson still ranked #2 ahead of Florida State we must ask that each voter gets dropped off in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle, and left to fend for themselves.

Saturday afternoon was their chance against Troy to make a statement as to why they belonged ahead of Florida State despite a close win against unranked Auburn. But Clemson was an onside kick away from possibly being 1-1. Florida State, however, took care of business both weeks, with a win over #11 ranked Mississippi and now a 52-8 thrashing of Charleston Southern.

Neither game was predicted to be close but the talent is supposed to take over and at least put the game somewhat out of reach. For the second week in a row, only one of the two were able to hold up their end of the deal. The Seminoles came out with the foot on the gas as they raced to a 28-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.

This is what good team does, teams with title hopes and the ones that know that any given weekend could be their final shot. The Tigers have taken that for granted. Maybe their success last season put them in a mind frame where they figured all they had to do was show up and it would be an easy win. 2-0 is still 2-0 no matter how you swing it but College Football goes far beyond the wins and losses.

Clemson was only three points ahead of the Seminoles in the standings last week, and if this close game doesn’t persuade the voters then we know the system is rigged. I would hate to place the NCAA and NBA in the same sentence as having favorites, whether it is true or not, I don’t want to go there. I thought State did enough last week to leapfrog the Tigers but after Saturday’s game, it should be a done deal.
