The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, dropped a 5-1 decision to the San Antonio Missions Wednesday night. Luke Tendler continued his dominant performance from the last game, hitting a home run and drawing two walks. It wasn’t enough to give Frisco the edge, and the club loses the series opener.
Tendler was responsible for the only RoughRiders run, hitting a homer in the sixth inning that bounced off the right field foul pole. He ended the night 2-2, with his homer and two walks. It was a continuance from Frisco’s last game, where Tendler also shined. Isiah Kiner-Falefa was the only other solid offensive performer for the RoughRiders, going 3-4 with a double. The club hit 0-9 with runners in scoring position, leaving eight total men on base.
Ariel Jurado started on the mound for the RoughRiders and was clearly off his game. He allowed 11 hits and five runs (all earned) over six innings. He walked none, but couldn’t strike out any batters. Jurado allowed all of San Antonio’s runs. In relief, Jose Valdespina, Connor Sadzeck, and Brady Feigl combined to hold the Missions scoreless. Over their three-total innings of work, the relievers allowed just four hits and struck out two.

The Frisco RoughRiders will take on the San Antonio Missions again Thursday night. Game two of the four-game set is scheduled to start at 7:05 PM at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.
Right-hander Tyler Davis (0-0, 1.38 ERA) will start for the RoughRiders. He’ll take on Brett Kennedy (7-5, 3.80 ERA) of the Missions.
