Houston’s hip-hop scene is legendary for its unique blend of culture, ambition, and hustle—a tradition that DC Sniper is proudly carrying forward. A first-generation Nigerian American artist, rapper, and actor, DC Sniper (DC Shad) has built a reputation for bringing the heat with every release. Now, he is stepping into a new era with his latest single, “Game 4 Days,” featuring 10kAce.

This new track serves as a “grown and sexy” follow-up to his previous work, signaling a shift in tone as he prepares to release his upcoming album, ‘Welcome to the Upside’. We spoke with DC Sniper to discuss his collaboration with 10kAce, the evolution of his sound, and what this new chapter means for his career.

Q: “Game 4 Days” features 10kAce. Can you tell us about how that collaboration came together and what unique energy 10kAce brought to the record?

DC Sniper:

10kAce is an old time friend I recently reconnected with. I invited him to the studio to hear what I’ve been working on. He heard the track and knew exactly what to do with it. He brings a raw East Coast energy to the track, he came in and dropped a quick 8. He’s a real professional. Musically, we feed off of each other’s energy.

Q: You’ve described this track as a “grown and sexy” follow-up to “Nights Like This”. How does this smoother, wavier vibe reflect where you are personally and artistically right now?

DC Sniper:

I just feel like the headspace I’m in right now, I feel very confident and self-assured. I feel that my music reflects that.

Q: Houston has such a distinct musical identity. How did the city’s specific energy and history influence the sound and production of “Game 4 Days”?

DC Sniper:

Houston is a very vibrant, dynamic and diverse city. It’s a melting pot for so many different cultures and sounds. The diversity of Houston influences my sound, it’s my interpretation of what I see around me. I soak up all of the energy and this is my wavy perception of it.

Q: With the release of the official music video for “Game 4 Days,” what visual story did you want to tell to match the track’s “unstoppable” energy?

DC Sniper:

It’s not enough to hear charisma, you gotta see it. The point I wanted to drive home with my visuals is for my audience to get a chance to put a face to the sound. I’m talking about things people can’t see, so why not show them? What you’re witnessing is genius in motion, that energy is what I wanted to convey.

Q: Your upcoming album is titled ‘Welcome to the Upside.’ Beyond just a title, what does “The Upside” represent to you as a state of mind for this next phase of your career?

DC Sniper:

I feel like in life, it’s so easy to focus on the negative things. It’s like a declaration to focus on the positive things in your life. You have to train your mind to do it. What it represents for me is that everything is up, everything I’ve worked hard for is coming up positive. We’re in the green. Every seed I’ve planted is being harvested as we speak. It’s harvest season, welcome to the upside. We’re forever up.

The release of “Game 4 Days” marks a defining moment for DC Sniper. It’s more than just a single; it’s a declaration of his arrival at a new level of artistry. By blending the classic Houston hustle with a refined, mature sound, he is carving out a lane that is distinctly his own.

As he gears up for the release of ‘Welcome to the Upside,’ DC Sniper is proving that he is not just part of the conversation—he is driving it. With a clear vision and “unstoppable motion,” he is ready to show the world exactly what it means to be “up forever”.
