The Army Reserve veteran, social worker, and author is building a transformational platform that meets survivors exactly where they are and walks with them all the way through.
Robin D. Stokes has spent most of her adult life in rooms that most people hope never to enter. As a 68D Operating Room Technician with the U.S. Army Reserve, she worked in the controlled urgency of surgical suites. As a social worker in New York City and later in Baltimore’s Child Protective Services Sex Abuse Unit, she sat across from survivors, children and adults alike, who had experienced the kinds of trauma that leave invisible wounds long after the visible ones heal. For 28 years in uniform and more than 15 years in social work, Robin showed up in some of the hardest spaces imaginable. Now, she is using everything she learned in those rooms to build something transformative: a platform designed to help individuals and communities move from survival to legacy.
Robin retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a Staff Sergeant, having earned an Outstanding Duty designation during Annual Training, a Commander’s Coin for Exceptional Service, and a Letter of Recognition for Outstanding Investigation on a Fatality, honors that reflect both her technical skill and her integrity under pressure. But it was the work that followed her military career that would shape the mission she carries today.
In New York, she spent seven years as a social worker navigating one of the most complex urban systems in the country. In Baltimore, eight more years in the Sex Abuse Unit brought her face to face with the criminal justice system, working alongside detectives, judges, and federal partners to advocate for some of the most vulnerable members of society. Through it all, she pursued an education that matched the depth of her calling: an Associate in Human Services, a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, a Master of Health Administration, a Master of Social Work, and 16 graduate credits toward a Doctorate in Counseling. She holds certifications in Mental Health, Dementia Care, Addictions, and Forensic Studies.
Today, Robin channels all of that experience into Mastering Experiences, a business built around books, speaking engagements, and transformational workshops on trauma, grief, healing, resilience, and personal transformation. Her work is not theoretical. It is lived. And the people she serves feel the difference.
Through Blu Impressions Publishing, Robin has authored and contributed to multiple books that speak directly to the communities she loves most. She is a co-editor and contributing author of Her March Forward, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, powerful anthologies collecting stories of resilience, empowerment, and inspiration from women veterans. She is also the author of Mastering Experiences of LIFE: A Warrior’s Journey From Silence to Purpose, Trauma to Triumph, and Survival to Legacy, a deeply personal and professionally grounded work that guides readers through the full arc of healing with honesty, strategy, and grace.
In July 2026, Robin hosted her signature live event, From Darkness to Light, an immersive experience designed to move participants from the weight of their past into the possibility of their purpose. It is the kind of event only someone who has truly walked through darkness could create.
“Healing is not just about surviving difficult moments,” Robin says. “It is about learning how to move through them with support, truth, grace, and courage.” Those words are not a tagline. They are the architecture of her life’s work.
Robin serves women, veterans, survivors, schools, churches, nonprofits, and community organizations, any space where people are carrying more than they should have to carry alone. For anyone ready to begin the journey from silence to purpose, her platform, her books, and her voice are waiting.
