Dubai. The City of Gold

Playground of the super-rich and beautiful, this Middle Eastern mecca of 2.7 million is where money, excess an beauty collide. Home to some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring skyscrapers in the world such as the world’s tallest building in the 2,722-foot tall Burj Khalifa. A global and economic powerhouse in the Middle East, Dubai is the most populous city of the United Arab Emirates and a global force to be reckoned with.

One of the most expensive cities in the world to live in and one of the best as well, Dubai has breath-taking landmarks such as the artificial archipelagos such as Palm Jumeirah, The World Islands and the canal city Dubai Marina, have helped make it one of the world’s must-see go-to places.

Built on oil in the 1960’s, Dubai is called The City of Gold as it has become a vital market in the gold trade. In addition to being a global economic and money capital, Dubai has also become one of the most popular cities in terms of tourism, thanks averaging more than 20 million visitors a year, making it the one of the top-ten most visited cities in the world.

Called the “Shopping Capital of the Middle East”, Dubai has more than 70 shopping malls, including, Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping center.

Even in the world of entertainment, Dubai is making it’s mark, thanks it’s annual Dubai International Film Festival, that has become a showcase of Arab filmmakers.

A oil-born city of gold, that has become one of the world’s hottest places to be has also produced it’s latest beauty in locally-based Playboy supermodel and fitness/lifestyle guru, Rania Gamal.

A 5’8 long-legged stunner with curves and a figure to match, Gamal is one of the hottest models in the world thanks to appearing as a Playboy Philippines cover girl, as a centerfold in Italy and South Africa, and other notable magazines such as Cosmo, Vogue and Arab Women Magazine.

A noted fitness model and guru, the Egyptian-born Gamal has become one of the leading faces of fitness and lifestyle in and around the Arab world. A model since the age of 17 while living in Germany, Gamal has traveled to and modeled for some of the biggest brands such as L’Oreal and magazines such as Scratch and Pop Sugar in the world today.

A world traveler and a speaker of four languages in English, Arabic, Danish and French, the actress, model and TV presenter is primed to become one of the newest and freshest faces in the world of modeling and entertainment today.

Could America be next in her quest for global dominance? Is Ramal set to become the next Cleopatra in terms of Egyptian beauties who have ruled the world?

Below is my Q and A with Rania as we talk living and modeling in Dubai, the differences between fitness and lifestyle in the West vs. the Middle East, how and why Dubai is the next modeling hotspot and how she spent her summer on Europe’s biggest ice glacier.

About you: I worked in fashion industry including fashion shows, commercials and live TV programs, for many years. I recently finished studying at  the World Media Academy, Dubai, where I have completed my Diploma in Digital Communication, Journalism & PR.

I love modeling and I have no plan to stop soon. I am doing great between modeling and writing sometimes. I have multiple hobbies such as traveling the world while working or not painting, pole dancing, and writing sometime, I also love learning new things.

What is it about Middle Eastern women that makes them so mysterious, sexy and so alluring? Decency is always sexy. Unlock the imagination. Hiding something for the creativity of the beholder is a brilliant strategy to fuse sexiness with beauty. Revealing everything all the time might bore the fashion world.

What’s with the growth of models working in and around Dubai these days? I would say only doing modeling, you won’t really get famous here like top models. the model will need to get outside of Dubai to become an international model. Otherwise, Dubai wont push you out there. You need to do it yourself

Is Dubai the new modeling hotspot? Yes and no. Many girls comes here on tourist visa and everyone thinks they can be a mode. They broke the price here and so as a client, who accepted to low price for on professional models so they can save Extra DHR. before when I first came here was so professional, the modeling agency they would protect the models and make sure they get paid what they deserved for the whole day booking on shoot. But now, even the agencies takes more then half and tell the girls the client didn’t want pay more.

This why I don’t work with everyone anymore here and I do lots of my shoots outside (of) Dubai.

Am I right saying you are a model, tell us about your career? I started modeling when I first move to Germany. I was 17 years old, at first I didn’t take it serious but couple years later started to enjoy getting dressed up and always looking different. (And) getting to wear all the trend from different international brands. I love fashion myself.

What first inspired you to become one? I was only 17, and I was visiting a good friend of mine. Her friend works in lingerie magazine and he saw me while he is visiting  at the  same time. He asked me if I have ever done modelling  and I said no! He asked me if I would like to model for this lingerie catalogue and this when my modelling career.

Best thing you did this past summer?  I went to Norway for a two week road trip, which stopped from town to town and did mountain hiking, river rafting and walked in the biggest ice glacier in Europe. I love active vacationing.

What magazines have you been published in? Playboy cover Philippines, featured in Playboy Italia and South Africa, Fashion magazine twice at First Avenue, cover fashion magazine alarm, Identity magazine, fashion and flick India, Cosmopolitan Middle East, Vogue Middle East,  E Global travel media, Cherry Cross, Arab Woman Magazine. Scratch magazine, Pop Sugar, sidsirus, and many more.

We know you love your fitness tell us about your daily workouts. Working out is a big part of my life, If I don’t workout I don’t feel good. I love waking up and starting my day with having a cup of coffee and going to the gym it makes me feel great and confident.

From time to time I like to try a new workout so I don’t get bored, but my usual work out if I am not working will be starting by class of body pump or TRX, running few KM to warm up before Then in the evening will join for Pole and flexibility classes.

Difference between the emphasis on working out in the US as opposed to your native UAE?  I would say lot’s of people here (In Dubai) use more personal trainers (than in the U.S.).

As a fitness model, what is the one area that those looking to get into shape often overlook or miss? I think people forget that big part of looking fit is also nutrition.

Any plans for fall and winter? This winter, I might go to Scotland for a few days, but will do Christmas in Dubai as one of my Playmate sisters is coming to spend it with me and my family. Fall, I think I might be in Miami or Mexico.

Pumpkin spice: overrated or just right? I don’t like pumpkin so I really don’t know much about it.

Best thing about the fall? When the leaves turns to different colors and the sun shine through one of my favorite, but that doesn’t happen In Dubai.

Obviously, you’re over in Dubai and don’t have to worry about our cold weather. When the weather drops, what tips do you recommend to still working out when it gets colder? There are so much online now, You can workout at home! You don’t really need a gym to workout. Youtube has many difference workouts or you can choose your favorite online fitness guru and do online classes.

G-string, thong or commando? Thong is sexier.

What would you say is your best feature?  My personality and my smile Smile

Sports: any favorite teams? San Francisco 49ers

You excited about the 2024 World Cup coming there? It’s happening in Qatar, and yes I am looking forward to be there. I think will be a great event.

What would you say to other younger models wanting to create a successful career like your self any advice? I would say start by taking good care of your body, modelling isn’t as easy as people tend to think, there is a lot more to it. You will need to build your portfolio and get some experience on how to pose.

Also think about what the client is looking for. Start to learn and understand your face, your body posture and what kind of modelling would you like to do. Then last but not least you need to believe in yourself and keep on pushing for your dream.
