The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired head coach Gus Bradley after their 21-20 loss to the Houston Texans in week 15 per Brian O’Halloran on Twitter. This is after owner Shad Khan vocally supported the head coach earlier this season. Bradley ends his tenure with the Jaguars with a 14-48 record and a team in massive disarray.

There were high expectations for the Jaguars going into the year. They had invested mightily in the defense, and they were hoping to build on the offensive outburst from last year. Unfortunately, Blake Bortles regressed immensely and the defense was good only in fits and starts. The Jags have not built on last season, and by dropping their twelfth game of the year, they guarantee a worse record than their 2015 campaign, and the fourth-straight ten loss season for the Jags.

The Jaguars are currently shoo-ins to draft in the top-five, which means they will likely be going after another defensive piece for whoever their next head coach might be. Given the massive step-back that the offense has taken, it is likely that the Jaguars look towards an offensive head coach. Josh McDaniels, Harold Goodwin, and Kyle Shanahan have all gotten a good amount of potential head coaching buzz. And Tom Coughlin hasn’t ruled out a return to the NFL.

The ”Gus Bus” has finally been run off the road, and probably should have gotten fired last season. Only the consistent valiant comeback efforts by Blake Bortles last year extended Bradley’s tenure. He tried to appease ownership by letting OC Greg Olsen go earlier this season, but to no avail.

As of now, no interim coach has been named.
