Two teams battling in the AFC West will be going head to head on Sunday Night Football in what should be a battle of defenses. The Kansas City Chiefs will leave the comforts of Arrowhead and go a mile high as they take on the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs are coming off a surprising home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Broncos had a week to rest, but before their bye they had beaten the New Orleans Saints on the road to put their record at 7-3. The Chiefs are also 7-3, and this game will determine who will sit in second behind the Raiders in the division.

The Chiefs typically play better at home compared to on the road. That is why last week’s home loss against Tampa Bay came as a surprise. But it may be a sign that their offense simply is not as good as their record indicates. They only rank 19th in points per game and sit in the low 20’s in many of the key offensive categories. The team needs to rely on their defense, which is one of the better units in the NFL. They will have to step up this week if they Chiefs want to win one on the road against their divisional foes.

The Broncos are in a very similar boat. The offense simply is not all that good. Somehow they are average in points per game, ranking 15th in the NFL. But when it comes to all the yards per game categories, like the Chiefs, they are in the 20’s across the board. So Von Miller and the defense will once again look to shoulder the load. Expect to see a defensive struggle and a game that should be on the lower scoring side of the spectrum. Overall, I feel the Broncos are the more talented of the two clubs. Pair that with home field advantage, and this is an easy pick for me.
