Tuesday Night will be a night full of great men’s college basketball action, with tons of ranked teams in action. Four of those ranked teams, all of whom are in the top 15 in the country, will be converging on Madison Square Garden in New York City for the State Farm Champions Classic. The first of the two games that the MSG crowd is going to get to enjoy will feature the John Calipari’s number two Kentucky Wildcats take on Tom Izzo’s number 13 Michigan State Spartans. It is a showdown of two of college basketball’s premier powerhouses, and one that is sure to have some ramifications come March.
This Kentucky club is off and rolling already this season, as they already have two wins under their belts. Both games have come at home, and have resulted in victories over the likes of the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks, as well as the Canisius Golden Griffins. Kentucky has not broken a true sweat yet, as both games came with a margin of victory over 20 points. Sophomore guard Isaiah Briscoe has led the charge thus far, leading the team with 19 points per game while playing an average of 31 and a half minutes a game. Tuesday night will give Briscoe and the team their first look at another top-tier school, and prove how talented Kentucky really is once again as they hunt for a top seed in this years NCAA Tournament.

As for the Spartans, things did not start off as planned. They opened their season ranked 12th in the country, and fell to the number 10 ranked Arizona Wildcats in the Armed Forces Classic down in Honolulu Hawaii. The loss was a true heartbreaker, as Kadeem Allen of Arizona went the distance of the entire court and put one in the basket with only 1.3 seconds remaining on the clock to give the Arizona team a 65-63 win. While it was a tough way to start the season for Izzo and his team, it is this type of competition early in the season that will bring out the best in Michigan State when things really matter in March. Unlike Kentucky, Michigan State is opening things up with two top 10 opponents, so even if they walked away from this one with another loss, neither one would be considered a bad loss.
The stage is set for some great action in the Garden on Tuesday night, as this will be followed up by an even more anticipated game between the Duke Blue Devils and Kansas Jayhawks. Be sure to tune in and watch as these college basketball Goliaths do battle on the hardwood in one of the greatest venues in the world.
