At fashion’s biggest party, celebrities donned tulle, vintage attire, pastels, and floral designs to celebrate the latest exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. While award season may spotlight the stars, the Met Gala, traditionally held on the first Monday in May, is unequivocally all about the clothes. This year’s theme invited guests to dress in outfits inspired by the short story “The Garden of Time,” a concept that beautifully intertwined elements of nature and fantasy. The event supported the upcoming exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which runs from May 10 through September 2, promising a showcase of fashion’s most enchanting eras. Among the myriad of dazzling outfits, Donna Leah Designs‘ founder shares her insights on the key fashion takeaways from this year’s enchanting evening, highlighting the trends and creative expressions that stole the spotlight.

The Allure of Blue

The evening’s most unexpected and striking color was blue, appearing in shades from icy pastels to deeper tones. This hue brought a refreshing elegance to the Met Gala, with musician Ed Sheeran donning a powder blue Stella McCartney suit embellished with lab-grown diamonds, and model Naomi Campbell stunning in a baby blue fringed Burberry gown.

From Donna Leah Designs, the shades of blue will inspire all fashionistas. The “Just So Perfect” Long Sleeve Jewel Neck Gown features an aqua all-over applique pattern, silk charmeuse stretch lining, a zipper in the back, and a scalloped hem, offering a look that is both ethereal and sophisticated. For those seeking empowerment through color, the “Marine Mermaid” gown is a celebration of sapphire—a symbol of self-confidence and positive thinking. This gown is exceptionally executed in a royal blue sequined lattice design with a floral motif, jewel neckline, and long sleeves. It features a large open collar, mermaid flair bottom, bell sleeves, and a polyester lining, making it a standout piece that embodies both grace and strength.
