Las Vegas is a prime spot for most vacationers. And while some think of it as a gambling/party mecca, it’s also home to some top-notch thrill rides.

One can easily overlook what Vegas has to offer when it comes to thrills outside of the casino. However, with the coaster at New York, New York, the Adventuredome at Circus Circus, and the X-Scream at the Stratosphere, Vegas is a must do for coaster and thrill ride fanatics.

If you Visit Vegas you must head over to New York, New York to ride their coaster, The Big Apple. While not the smoothest of rides, it will go down as one of my more memorable coaster experiences. Maybe it’s because of the theme of the ride, or the views it gives you going up the lift hill, but there was something about it which made me wanting more.

Circus, Circus might be one of the oldest hotels on the Vegas Strip, but tucked away at the Adventuredome is the El Loco coaster. Recently opened, El Loco is a thrilling ride that features a 90-foot drop and a doughnut roll, something which isn’t seen often on most coasters. The fact that the coasters are indoors does nothing to diminish its appeal, in fact, it might be the best ride in Vegas.

The Stratosphere is one of the signature destinations in Vegas. Standing 1,149 feet, the tower is home to X-Scream. The unique ride teeters you over the tower at an angle. If you do this ride you must sit front row! It’s an absolute necessity, as you won’t get the full effect from any other seat. Also, make sure to keep your hands up.

As far as thrills go, X-Scream is probably the more intense of the three. If you were to do only one of the three coasters definitely experience X-Scream. And while I’d say El Loco is the better ride of the three, I only give the edge to X-Scream due to a much higher thrill factor, as it teeters you over the edge of Las Vegas Blvd.

You really can’t go wrong picking out a thrill ride in Las Vegas. There are more options to choose from, but the three I mentioned are without question the best of the bunch. Next time you visit Vegas, make it a priority to try out the Big Apple, X-Scream, and El Loco. You won’t regret it.
