You do not need to be a fan of comics to enjoy the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. That is because these films, which date back to 2008’s Iron Man, are simply fun and entertaining movies. They are pieces to a larger puzzle that is almost completed.

To this point, everything has been building to a showdown with Thanos. That epic clash will finally come to fruition next year in Avengers: Infinity War and conclude in 2019’s unnamed Avengers film. While Marvel films tend to be on the lighter side, these will likely carry a more ominous overtone.

Thanos and his cronies are going to kill some of our favorite heroes. There is no getting around that fact. So if you are emotionally invested in any given character, be prepared when you enter the theater that they may not be walking out with you.

But with that said, things will not be completely bleak. Like any other Marvel film, there will surely be plenty of laughter. Some of this will come in the form of pop-culture type of references that Marvel is good at including. For example, Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 had fun moments that referenced Mary Poppins and Pacman.

So what are some of those type of fun moments that would be cool to see in Infinity War? Given some of the actors that we will see in this film, here are five fun Easter Eggs fans would surely appreciate seeing next year when the battle against Thanos goes down.

Sherlock meet Sherlock

Finally, the two actors that have taken on the mantle of Sherlock Holmes have the chance to come face to face on the big screen. Robert Downey Jr., who portrays Tony Stark/Iron Man, has played Holmes in two films back in 2009 and 2011. Meanwhile, Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch has played the role on the show Sherlock since 2010.

So when the two finally share an on-screen moment together, any form of Sherlock reference would simply be terrific. Given the cocky nature of both characters, I am personally hoping for one of them to drop the line, “No sh*t Sherlock” after the other one makes a really complicated statement.

But it can be anything Sherlock related. To top it all off, it would be best if Martin Freeman, who plays Watson to Cumberbatch’s Sherlock, was present for the scene as well.

The Eighth Wonder of the World

Two prominent Marvel actors appeared in 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, and Brie Larson, who will be portraying Captain Marvel both got to face off with King Kong. Now they will both could be involved in the next two Avengers flicks.

Now, Loki is not a lock for the films yet. And technically Captain Marvel has not even appeared in an MCU movie to date. But my gut tells me that we will be seeing both of them come next year. I am imagining a scene where the two must work together alongside the Hulk. Now obviously, that would require Loki coming to the good guys side.

Now if that does indeed happen, we are in line for a subtle reference to Kong.  If you didn’t know, one of Kong’s nicknames is The Eighth Wonder of The World. Given the size and nature of the big green guy, I could certainly see either Loki or Captain Marvel dropping that line in reference to the Hulk.

A Reference to Cable

Josh Brolin is the man behind the big purple face of Thanos. Brolin has also been cast as Cable, a mutant with a long and complicated history, in Fox’s upcoming Deadpool 2 film. If you have seen Deadpool, you know he likes to break the fourth wall. As a result, he ends up talking about real life circumstances, such as two actors playing Professor X.

This could be Marvel’s chance to do something along those lines as well. Now, they likely cannot use the character by name, since his rights are owned by Fox. But, they can subtly describe him in some way. Or maybe just use the word “cable” in a creative way.

The way I picture it comes in the form of the Guardians talking strategy with some of the Avengers. Spider-Man is talking about how he wants to wrap Thanos up in his webs as a distraction. As a result, Rocket says something along the lines of “You think those tiny webs can hold this guy frickin guy back? Not even an industrial cable could do the job”. It’s a little corny I know, but it would be a fun little Easter Egg

Space Pants

So this is actually the one that sparked the idea for this article in the first place. I was scrolling through Facebook, and all of a sudden I saw a video of one of my favorite SNL sketches of the last five years pop up. It is none other than Peter Dinklage singing about his Space Pants! For those of you who haven’t seen it, please enjoy the video below.

Now, we have no idea who Dinklage is actually playing in the film yet. Most are putting their money on Pop the Troll. While I think that is a good guess, I am definitely going to say it is a cosmic character of some sort. Given I do not see Tyrion Lannister ever using the phrase “Space Pants” on Game of Thrones, this is our best chance to hear Dinklage utter those words again.

It would be one of those obscure Easter Eggs that not everyone will get. But for those SNL fans, this would certainly be a memorable one. Can we make it happen Russo Brothers?

So there you have it. Would you enjoy moments like these if they happened during Infinity War? What are some of your ideas? Tell us in the comments!
