The Minnesota Vikings traded for Sam Bradford for a first round pick in 2017 and a fourth round pick in 2018. This stage of the season, a quarterback is hard to find. This is the best case scenario for the Vikings, as Bradford is familiar with both Pat Shurmur and Shaun Hill from his days with the Rams. Shurmur was the offensive coordinator when Bradford won Rookie of the Year in 2010. Bradford also played for Shurmur in his one year in Philadelphia.

After Shurmur took over the playcalling, Bradford improved his overall play. Bradford also has multiple weapons around him from Stephan Diggs, Kyle Rudolph, Jarius Wright, LaQuon Treadwell, and Charles Johnson getting healthy again Bradford will make these guys better players. See what Brett Favre did in 2009. Only 7 million will count against the cap for the Vikes with the Bradford additional as they made the trade after 9/1 when bonuses were due to Bradford. Also, Bradford and Peterson both attended the same college. We may have the best Oklahoma backfield the NFL has ever seen in its history.

The case for the Eagles

The Eagles get a first back from their trade with the Browns. Bradford was disgruntled after the trade with the Browns, and the signing of Chase Daniel and how he made it public was apparent that he didn’t want to be a member of the Eagles anymore. The Eagles lose out on 11 million with the cap which hurts as they could have addressed a different need. They see that their future is Carson Wentz, and they are giving their prized first round pick a chance to start Day One. The Eagles made the trade they felt was best for the organization.

How this affects the Browns

The Browns received a first round pick from Philadelphia this offseason, now that Bradford has moved on, Browns fans are super stoked that they may have landed an additional Top 10 pick. The Browns may be Quarterback shopping in the NFL Draft pending on the performance of RG III this season. Their draft position may have improved based on the trade that took place on Saturday.

The last time the Vikings traded multiple picks away was when they traded for Jared Allen. That trade consisted of a first round pick and two third round picks. We all know how well Jared did in Minnesota. He was loved in Minnesota. If Bradford has the same effect Allen had in Minnesota, then the trade will be worthwhile. Especially if the pick is a late pick, hopefully for Vikings fans it will be pick no. 32.
