What do you get when an undefeated team comes off their bye and goes on the road? You get a two and a half point favorite whose quarterback will be facing the team that traded him away right before the season began. I am of course talking about the Minnesota Vikings and Sam Bradford. The team will be going to to Pennsylvania to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are coming off their second straight loss, both of which were on the road.

So let’s start with the Vikings. The team is off to an amazingly good start to the surprise of just about everyone. The team is built upon a monster defense, which is the forte of head coach Mike Zimmer. That defense is the best in the NFL, and will give any team they face fits. Add in Bradford running the offense, and you have a surprisingly high scoring team. Their overall offensive stats are not overly impressive, which could end up biting them at some point. But the fact is, they are scoring points, and their defense is kicking things into high gear.

For the Eagles, they are coming off two straight poor games. A bright spot for this week, both of those games were on the road. So could a return home be the solution to their problem? Carson Wentz showed some of those rookie flaws we all knew would come through at some point in those games, and now he faces that Zimmer defense. If Wentz can perform well here, people will surely be singing his praises like never before. If he struggles, people will begin to question him after three straight rough games. The teams defense has been a letdown the last few weeks as well, and they need to step up against Bradford this week if the team wants the win.

I see both defenses stepping up big this week. The Vikings get to face a rookie, and the Eagles will seek to take down their former quarterback. Bradford will surely have revenge on his mind as well. But will the raucous Philly crowd be able to get to him? I do not expect the Eagles to win, but I do expect a closer game than most probably do. Maybe that’s because I am an Eagles fan. Or maybe it is because I think the Eagles defense will be able to get to Bradford a bit.
